It’s a dull, miserable, damp day. The skies are gray, snow is melting, and there's a chill in the air. It's a dull day. I look forward to the brightness, the sunshine, and the warmth. It feels good when those days come. But days like this feel so ordinary and mundane.

In Colossians 3:17, having said that the peace of Christ should rule in our hearts, that we are called to peace and to be thankful, and that we are to let the message of Christ dwell in us, Paul says, “Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

Paul does not tell us to do this when the skies are blue, when the sun is on our backs, or when there are exciting things to look forward to. He just tells us this is how we are to live.

In the routines, in the ordinariness of our lives, even when days are miserable, we live faithfully. In fact, I have learned that it is in ordinary, mundane, even miserable days, that the quality of our faithfulness is seen more clearly.

What tasks do you have today? Perhaps they are regular and routine, nothing special, nothing spectacular. Whatever tasks you have, fulfill them giving praise to God in the name of Jesus.

Let's pray.

O Lord, you are good and faithful. You are sovereign. We thank you for the days of blessing, brightness, warmth, and joy. We also thank you that on days when life is ordinary and routine, you help us to follow you faithfully. Keep our eyes on Jesus, keep our hearts humble, put your word on our lips, and let us show Christ. We thank you, Lord, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

在《歌羅西書》第三章中，保羅說，基督的平安應當在我們心裡掌權，我們蒙召要享平安，感恩，並且要讓基督的道理住在我們心裡，保羅說：“無論做什麼，或說話或行事，都要奉主耶穌的名，藉著他感謝父神。”


保羅並沒有告訴我們在天空蔚藍、陽光明媚或有令人興奮的事情值得期待時這樣做。他只是告訴我們應該如何生活。

在日常生活中，在平凡的生活中，即使日子過得很痛苦，我們也活在信實中。事實上，我了解到，只有在平凡、世俗、甚至悲慘的日子裡，我們的信心才能看得更清楚。

今天你有什麼任務？也許它們很平常、很例行公事，沒有什麼特別的，也沒有什麼了不起的。無論你有什麼任務，都要奉耶穌的名讚美上帝來完成它們。

主啊，祢是良善且信實的。你滿有權柄。我們感謝您帶給我們祝福、光明、溫暖和歡樂的日子。我們也感謝您，在平常的日子裡，幫助我們忠心地追隨您。我們要定睛仰望耶穌，保持謙卑的心，把祢的話掛在嘴邊，讓我們彰顯基督。主啊，我們奉耶穌的名感謝祢。阿門。
