We've been working through the Freedom in Christ series. Part of this series includes the so-called “Cans of Success”: things that we can have confidence in. One that's been relevant for me recently is about having no fear, no anxiety.

1 Peter 5:7 says, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

When I think about the situations in our world today, the turmoil that's going on, some of the struggles happening between nations, and some of the issues facing Canada, it's easy to be anxious and concerned. But I've turned to this verse to remind me that Jesus is in control and that he loves me.

Earlier in the week I read about a Canadian who was struggling with all these issues. This Canadian then went outside, looked at the snow and the beauty of the scenery, sensed a calmness, and sensed God saying, “As the snow is fresh, as the snow brings a sense of cleanness, so I am at work and you can trust me.”

I don't know what you're going through and which one of the “Cans of Success” has applied to you in this Freedom in Christ series. For me it's this one in 1 Peter: I can cast my anxiety on Jesus, and I know he loves me.

Let's pray.

O Lord, we thank you that you are good and faithful and gracious. We thank you Lord that you are the living God and we can trust ourselves and all the things that are happening in the world into your hands. We pray that we will learn to trust you more and cast our anxiety on you because you love us. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
