We are in the middle of our Kids’ Bible Adventure Week. It's an exciting week. Children are learning more and more about Jesus. But in the lead up to this week, there has been a lot of preparation.

Many people have worked so hard and so diligently to prepare for our Kids’ Bible Adventure Week. The decorations and the setup for the week have been spectacular, as you'll see in this video. I took this footage early one morning last week before anybody was here.

The theme for the Bible Adventure Week is from Psalm 56:3. This says, “Whenever I'm afraid, I put my trust in you.”

All of us have been afraid. We can be afraid of many different things. We can be afraid of the dark, afraid of an illness, afraid of an uncertain future, even afraid of a relationship. The fact that this Psalm says, "Whenever I'm afraid...," means that people in the Bible were also afraid.

But this verse reminds us that whenever we are afraid, we have someone we can go to and something that we can do. We can turn to the Lord, and we can put our trust in Him. We hand the situation that makes us afraid over to the Lord, saying, “Lord, I don't know how to handle this. I don't know what's happening. It frightens me. But I'm giving it to you. And you are sovereign, and you will take charge of this. And you know the beginning from the end, and you will be glorified.”

That's an important message, isn't it? We know we can trust the Lord because Jesus went to the cross for us, rose again from the dead, and is seated at the Father's right hand. So we know he is above all reign and rule and power and authority. We know he can take charge of any situation and circumstance. As this verse says, “Whenever I'm afraid, I put my trust in you.”

May this be so for our children at our Kids’ Bible Adventure Week and for you and me in our present situations and in whatever the future may be. Jesus is Lord.

Let's pray.

“O Lord God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we know that you are the sovereign God and that you are able to take control of all situations. We also know, Lord, that there are times when we are afraid. Help us to turn to you, to put our trust in you, to let you take charge, and to let you change us more into your likeness through these circumstances. And then let us see you glorified.

We pray for the children at our Kids’ Bible Adventure Week. May they put their trust in you. We pray for those who are leading and teaching that they will have grace and wisdom to know how to share the love of Jesus and encourage the children.

We praise you, O Lord, in the name of the one in whom we put our trust, the name of Jesus. Amen."

Grace and peace
