Academy of Music is an outreach program of Trinity Baptist Church. Our vision is to provide music instruction in a Christian environment which teaches appreciation and love to music. Acknowledging that music is a wonderful gift from God, our mission is to see students develop their music skills through instructions, encouragement and participation. We have a well-educated faculty who are deeply committed to life-long devotion to learning.

Diana Slateva Ms. Diana Zlateva, Director
A professional piano teacher and choral conductor, Diana Zlateva holds a master’s degree in piano performance from University of Redlands, Californa and a master’s degree in choral conducting from University of British Columbia. Highlights of Ms. Zlateva conducting career include conducting chamber choir Bel Canto, Redlands Children’s Choir, UBC Women’s Choir, Maple Ridge Women’s Choir. Under her leadership the Bulgarian Women’s Choir has won several prestigious prized in Western European Competitions. Ms. Zlateva continues to develop her skills as an educator by teaching piano, organ, voice and music theory. Ms. Zlateva is the Music Director and Organist at Trinity Bpatist Church, Vancouver since 2005 where she directs the TBC Sanctuary Choir and TBC Children’s Choir.

Jennifer ClarkeMs. Jennifer Clarke, Voice
Her entire life, Jennifer has loved to sing and has been passionate about music. Upon finishing high school, she received a scholarship to attend Douglas College and pursue her musical dreams and received her Diploma in Performing Arts in 2004. She later attended the University of British Columbia where she studied voice with Heather Thomson-Price and Bruce Pullan, receiving her Bachelor of Music with a degree in Voice in 2009, graduating in the top fifteen percent of her class. She has performed lead roles in musicals such as the Minstrel in Mary Rodgers’ “Once Upon a Mattress” and the Queen of the Fairies in Gilbert & Sullivan’s “Iolanthe. In addition to performing, Jennifer has a passion for teaching and has enjoyed working in pre-schools as well as teaching private voice lessons to all ages. She especially enjoys encouraging children to love music while simultaneously helping them develop healthy voice technique.

Torey ZacharyMs. Torey Zachary, Early Childhood Music Classes
Torey was interested in music from the start and began formal training at the piano when she was four. She holds two diplomas in piano performance (A.R.C.T., L.L.C.M.) and a B.Mus. from UBC. Torey has also studied voice (classical and jazz), dance, and guitar as well as Orff methodology at Capilano University and VCC. In addition to teaching over thirty piano students each week, she delights in helping little ones discover their own creative selves through music and movement, and finds it especially rewarding to see kids learn and grow in exciting ways while having so much fun. Torey has enjoyed teaching students of all ages for more than a decade and is particularly interested in the benefits of music for children with special needs.

Ms. Amanda Hsueh, Violin
Amanda Hsueh holds MM in violin performance from Essen Folkwang Hoschule in Germany and a former member of the Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra. She is also an active chamber musician, participated in numerous chamber music festivals and concerts in Europe. Her students are consistently high mark earners and award winners at exams and festivals. She is fluent in Mandarin, Taiwanese and conversational German.
